Can I wear headphones?
Yes, but we ask that you keep the volume down at a safe level so that you can hear other runners or instructions from event personnel. We also ask that you remove them, or, at the very least, remove one ear bud when you are coming to aid stations or in a crowd. The important thing is paying attention to everyone's safety and maintaining basic race etiquette with other runners.
Are there restrooms or port-a-potties on the course?
There are portable toilets near the start/finish area and on the course, located around miles 2, 5, 8, and 10 for the half. There will be hand washing stations and plenty of hand sanitizer available.
What about Aid Stations?
Yes, there are plenty of well stocked aid stations along all routes. Please see Race Day Information page for specific details.
Can I register on the day of the race?
Yes, but the price does increase and we can't guarantee schwag for race day registrants.
Will there be age group awards?
Sorry, not this year, however age group results will be posted.

I am a very slow runner. Am I going to be out of place?
For the 5k and 10k, you won't be out of place at all. This is a community event and is open to participants of all abilities -- including walkers/hikers.
The half and 55k are technical courses and require training and preparation. Both events do have time limits.
Is there a time limit?
Hosting a great event, requires the service of many, many volunteers. Out of respect for our volunteers' time, we do have time limits for the 55k and Half Marathon. Time limits are listed below:
Half Marathon: 4 hours
55K: 10 hours
Are there showers available?
Yes, the high school shower rooms will be open at 12:00 p.m. for out-of-the-area participants to use to shower up before hitting the road home. We will use the back door of the high school gym for the showers. Watch for signs.
Can my dog run with me during the race?
Unfortunately NO. As much as we love dogs and running with our own, not everyone is comfortable being around dogs (even if leashed) and for reasons of safety (for those with two legs and four) we ask runners not to bring their dogs along for the race. Service dogs are allowed.
Are strollers allowed?
Sorry, for safety reasons, due to the rugged and uneven terrain, baby joggers, strollers, baby carriers, and baby backpacks, are NOT allowed on this course.
Will the race be cancelled if it rains?
The race will be held, rain or shine. Courses may be modified to account for weather conditions. Note: In the event of severe weather, disaster, pandemic, or emergency occurrences, the event may be canceled to protect the safety and health of the participants and volunteers.
Can I get a refund if I can not participate?
Unfortunately we do not offer refunds for any of the events. Costs associated with the pre-planning and ordering of participant amenities well in advance of the race prohibit us from offering refunds. In addition, refunds are not issued if the event is cancelled due to pandemic, severe weather, disaster or emergency occurrences that may affect the safety and health of the participants.
Can I change distances once I've registered?
Yes. If you register for the 5k, 10k, or half and want to move to a longer distance, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. You will have to pay for the difference in registration fees. If you register for the 55k, Half, or 10k and decide you want to change to a shorter distance, let us know and we can adjust the distance. We do not issue refunds for the difference in registration fees.
Are there team discounts?
Due to changes in our registration platform, there are no team discounts offered this year.
Will there be food provided after the runs?
Yes, there will be a FREE Post-Race meal for participants, as well as water and Gatorade. We've heard your requests and this year will be providing chicken burrito bowls to help you recover from the Challenge. There might be brownies, as well.
Are spectators and guests allowed?
Yes! There are locations throughout town where spectators may go to cheer you on being safe and using proper Social distance guidelines.
No spectator vehicles are allowed on the off-road portion of the course. The finish for the 10k, half, and 55k will come down Emerald Slope Road which would be a good place to cheer, as well.
